About Us
We've been in beautiful downtown Center Point (suburb of Birmingham,
AL), since 1989 in a 4000 square foot building just off Center Point
Road. We occupy about two thirds of the building with the
remaining space occupied by our building partner, Charles Poe Realty.
Our sales offices, warehouse & shipping area, plus manufacturing and
repair facilities are all housed under one roof.
Our business is based on a concept developed many years ago by our
favorite poet - Rudyard Kipling, whose words have become our words -
And they
copied, and they copied, but they couldn't copy my mind, so I left them
sweating and stealing a year and a half behind! We are the
Go To Guys for information in wireless communications and advanced video
technology.
Our blog page at
http://falconinfo.blogspot.com has
been, and continues to be visited by every major communications
manufacturer in the world for current information on MotoTRBO, NXDN, and
P25 technology, operating standards, trends, and FCC regulations. Our
readers include major government agencies including FEMA, Homeland
Security, and all military agencies as well ARINC (Airline Radio),
railroad and transportation consultants, major universities ranging from
Morehead State in the USA to Ajou University in Korea.
Virtually every major telecom service provider, including Bell Canada,
Japan Telecom, Posta Dhe Telecom in Serbia and even Telcom Services of
Trinidad and Tobago are among our frequent visitors. In the
commercial sector, our visitors range from Harrah's Entertainment to SBC
and Verizon. Name a country anywhere in the world from Australia to
Uganda and you'll find visitors to both our Blog and many of our
specialized user oriented web pages.
We are not your ordinary dealer. We actually design, manufacturer,
and service specialized products for a variety of users including major
public safety agencies, as well as Los Alamos, and Sandia National
Laboratories. We were instrumental in setting up a nationwide FM
broadcast sub-carrier paging system and installation of a statewide
mobile repeater system for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol as
well as numerous special projects for users around the world.
We have our detractors. If we didn't, we wouldn't be doing our
job. However, we invite comments, both positive and negative on
our Blog page. One of our competitors (much larger than we) refers
to Falcon Direct as a one man band. We thought that deserved an
answer. You might want to review our response at
http://falconinfo.blogspot.com/2008/08/one-man-band.html.
It will be interesting to see how this larger competitor reacts to our
changing economic conditions. If the market is shrinking,
competition is increasing, and overhead is fixed; things can get pretty
tough for those whose business depends on growth for survival.
Maybe this one man band concept isn't so bad after all!
Currently, our endeavors are focused on merging the capabilities of
voice, data, and video technologies to provide better solutions for
those we serve. To get a better idea of what we do and for whom, we
suggest that you visit our Blog site at
http://falconinfo.blogspot.com
where we continually post updated information on a variety of subjects
including FCC rules and the move to digital technology. A partial
list of specialized web sites is included at the bottom of our Blog
page.
As you review our home page at
www.falcondirect.com, you will see
that even our web page is different. We give you the information
you need on products, user applications, regulatory issues, and
technology updates. On top of that, we offer the best products, by
the best manufacturers, at the best prices anywhere. We are truly
in a class by ourselves, and we like it that way!
What will we do next? Stay tuned!
