So how do you choose.......
the right handheld or mobile radio?
As a general rule, we will buy and sell American made products whenever
possible. Our second choice is Japan. In our opinion, there
are two significant Japanese manufacturers producing quality products at
fair prices. One of those (and our choice), is ICOM. Our
reason for favoring ICOM is that they actually design and manufacture
their own products in their own plants. They take care of their
employees and cooperate in developing new technology (the other Japanese
company, by the way, is Kenwood).
Outside the USA and Japan, if we had to
include a third source of supply, it would be Korea, a long time US
trading partner with a worldwide reputation for innovation and
quality. Putting it another way, the companies offering the best
value and actually giving back something to the USA are Ritron (US), Icom
(Japan), and Midland (Korea).
As is the case with any product, the price
categories generally fall into good, better and best. We don't offer
any inferior products - just good products with features to meet the needs
of those we serve. Here is an overview of our recommended
choices.
