Product Overview

Shadow Tracker is our newest offering in passive vehicle tracking with automatic downloading capability. Shadow Tracker is an advanced product based on the original SilentPartner. These products are especially well suited for the specific needs of government and utility users looking for an affordable an efficient alternative to real time vehicle administration reporting. The benefits of knowing where a vehicle has been, how fast it was driven in getting there, and how long it was stopped provide a valuable management tool that has direct benefits in terms of better utilization of manpower, personnel safety, conflict and litigation avoidance, as well as vehicle cost savings. There are no monthly or activation use charges associated with this system.

Shadow Tracker is a Data Accumulation & Reporting (DAR) system. Unlike a real time reporting system, the travels of each vehicle are recorded and downloaded to a computer at the dispatch center when the vehicle returns to headquarters. This information is immediately available to the shift commander as well as for general administrative purposes since it can be archived on the computer hard drive or CD as desired. The DAR application is the original and most common application of SilentPartner, first used by the Falkville, Alabama Police Department. 			GPS Tracking Maps
			The maps provided with Shadow Tracker provide pinpoint information on all vehicle activity anywhere in the USA. You get 1 second updates of speed and location at a glance.

			Vehicle Tracking Reports
			You get both written and graphic reports that tell you where. The information is recorded by date and time for instant recall as desired on the Daily Tracking Report. A Stop Report tells you exactly where your vehicles stopped and for how long. You even get an Idle Time Report and a record of all travel with mileage and speed.

			Mobile
			The Shadow Tracker mobile consists of the GPS receiver with a built in 900 MHz transceiver for downloading trip data to the Shadow Tracker base station. A GPS antenna that can be mounted INSIDE the vehicle (concealed if desired) is provided along with a power cable that connects directly to your vehicle fuse panel. In most cases, on-site installation is not required since detailed information for fuse locations of most popular vehicles is available in the vehicle owners manual.

			Base Station
			The Shadow Tracker Base Station connects directly to your PC for reception of 900 MHz signals transmitted by vehicles equipped with Shadow Tracker mobile tracking units. The process is completely automatic and is automatically updated each time the vehicle nears your office. (Up to one half mile depending on antenna location).

			Optional Accessories
			For temporary use, we offer a cigarette lighter cable, This low cost accessory eliminates the need to connect to the vehicle fuse block. Note: For best results, use a receptacle that has power on at all times, even when the ignition is off.

			Software
			The Shadow Tracker software provides everything you need with simple instructions for loading to your PC. In addition, you get personalized telephone support directly from the manufacturer to assist you in the initial installation plus a full year of continuing support, a Shadow Track exclusive!

System Pricing Guide

You can order Shadow Tracker on line. No professional installation is required. The mobile simply connects to your vehicle fuse block. The GPS antenna can be placed on the dash, or concealed since GPS antennas penetrate both glass and plastic (Sorry - not metal, not yet...). The base station installation involves loading the software, connecting the base station unit, placing the antenna at an optimum location and following the setup instructions. If you have a problem, help is only a phone call away!

Installation notes

Some laptop PC's do not have a DB9 serial port. A USB to Serial adapter is optionally available We've tried it and it works fine.

It probably doesn't need to be said, but we will say it anyway. If you want the best performance in managing and printing your Shadow Tracker data, you should be using the highest possible processor speed, have the maximum memory possible and use a printer capable of handling color at reasonable speeds. Our recommendation for the purchase of a new PC is to consider an operating speed of no less than 1 GHz, 512 MHz of RAM, and a printer capable of printing up to 16 pages per minute in color. You should be able to get the whole package for less than a thousand dollars.
