To:  Alabama VFDS using AFC Repeaters

As you may know, the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) has announced that the requirement to convert to narrow band has been extended through mid year of 2009 although conversion may occur sooner in some counties.

AFC has also announced that they are seeking funds to assist VFD’s in making equipment conversions or for the purchase of new equipment when older equipment cannot be upgraded.

There have also been questions as to whether these funds, if and when they become available, can be used only for the purchase of equipment listed on the current Alabama State Contract (The current contract expires in September 2008).

We can’t speak for money that does not yet exist or for the terms of the Alabama State Contract beyond September, but I have met with William Baisden, Assistant State Forester for the purpose of seeking clarification on the aforementioned as well as other important issues to those we serve.

We have prepared information which we think you will find to be of interest at www.info4u.us/fireinfo.pdf.  This is a reprint of a brochure which we pass out when we are able to attend VFD County Association meetings.  We plan to visit as many meetings as possible from now through the end of the year.  For now, we hope the information on the preceding link will be helpful.  By the way, there are some VERY special offers contained in this reprint.  Check them out – We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

If we may be of assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to call us a 800.489.2611 or email sales@falcondirect.com.
