An old name with a new image - Midland, a company proudly represented by Falcon Direct. You may wonder why we have added Midland to the other companies we represent - namely, BK Radio, HYT, ICOM, Motorola, Relm, Ritron, and TEKK. They all make good radios, so why do we need to add another? There are two answers. First, we we know that many of our potential users prefer to purchase from a State of GSA contract. Since the majority of our customers are in Alabama, it makes sense that we offer a radio that is on the Alabama State Purchasing Contract. Midland is on the contract with a discount of 35% - greater than any other radio supplier
The second reason for choosing to represent Midland may be a little easier to understand. Our job is to make sure our customers get the best value for the money. Unfortunately, one manufacturer can't always meet that objective (although some say they can).
The handheld radio that is well suited for the needs of heavy duty users who require more features (i.e. higher power, more channels, built in paging etc.) is the PL5000 series. This radios are especially well suited for use by volunteer fire and rescue personnel who rely on their radio as an alerting device. We also offer a full P25 model (the SynTech series) in a handheld, mobile, and base station version
We chose the ML3200 mobile with good power (45 watts in both VHF and UHF), adequate channel capacity (32), dual mode (25 and 12.5 kHz capable) and a few totally unique features like a real external squelch control so that you can have control over reception capability, built in weather channels with a NOAA alerting decoder, and an external data port for use with external data accessories.
