This is the place where we post late breaking news that may be of interest to our readers. We will also sometimes ask a question that will be answered later in the newsletter. This month, the question is What are the only three reasons for war? |
What's new this month? - As you may know, we have an evaluation program that we use for field testing of selected products. Over the past several months, we have been customer testing the new HYT TC-700 portable radio. We thought you might be interested in reviewing just a few of the comments received at www.info4u.us/tc700comments.pdf. This is one fine radio! Additional information on the TC-700 is available at www.info4u.us/YouAsked.pdf. Digital news updates- The shift to digital is now clear. The question is which of the available technologies is the best long term investment. We believe the answer is P25, the mandatory standard for all US federal agencies. Unfortunately, P25 has traditionally been a little more than the other formats (FDMA, FHSS, & TDMA). However, as volume goes up, the prices come DOWN! This month, for the first time, we are offering a full P25 UHF mobile for less than six hundred dollars! This is incredible! If you need a UHF mobile, ICOM and Falcon Direct have made your choice easy. See www.info4u.us/599.pdf. A word about grants - The FEMA grant application period for Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) closed on November 30th. As many of our readers know, we offered two projects this year. The first, known as the CAP program actually involved multiple projects. The second dealt with firefighter safety in relation to hearing loss prevention. An efficient and affordable vehicle intercom system can satisfy both OSHA and NFPA requirements plus saving the hearing of first responders. We provide a sample narrative and budgetary information on request. If you applied for a grant to provide this equipment, we thank you for working with us. If you missed the grant, you can still get a good system for under two thousand dollars. Check out our systems at www.falcondirect.com/Intercoms. The CAP program is also very affordable and provides significant community benefits. Details are available at www.info4u.us/CAPIntro.pdf. A special message for members of the timber products industry - As part of our continuing focus on addressing the specific needs of major communications users, Falcon Direct has completed a review of the needs of the timber products industry. We discovered some unique needs and solutions that we feel would be of interest to others as well, even those outside the timber products indutsry. Check out our special web site at www.forestryradios.com for more information |
For curious minds only In this section of our newsletter, we usually try to include something beautiful, something humorous, something spiritual, and something serious, not necessarily in that order. This month, we will start with something serious. This is not the kind of information you will receive on the evening news or your local newspaper. That doesn't mean it isn't important. This is a threat that is very much with us. We all need to be aware to the threat and plan to do our part in saving this Republic for our children and grandchildren. Go to http://www.usawakeup.org to see what we mean. The three reasons for war are to get, to keep, and to retrieve. Guess who figured that out? His name was William Penn. Anyone out there want to tell us who William Penn is, or more accurately - was? Our email address is sales@falcondirect.com. When's the last time you thought about Romania? As our thoughts turn to thoughts of a White Christmas, we thought you might like to see a few scenes from one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Check our www.info4u.us/WINTERIN_ROMANIA.pps. Give it a little time to load. It's a fairly large file but well worth the wait. Still on the subject of Christmas, our neighbors to the north in Canada may be doing their shopping in the USA this year. The reason being that the Canadian dollar reached parity (equal value) with the U.S. dollar on September 20th, 2007 for the first time since 1976. Thanks to a sinking U.S. dollar and soaring commodity prices that benefit oil rich Canada, the Canadian dollar can now be exchanged 1 for 1 for U.S. dollars. What does this mean? It simply means that our dollar is now worth less which means we can buy less since we import most of what we use. Which currency will next catch up to us? Think PESO! Thanks NAFTA! Reuters News Service recently reported that Vertex Standard has agreed to be bought by Motorola in a deal worth approximately 67.4 million dollars. This will give Motorola a 51% controlling share of Vertex with an offering of 35.5% above the Vertex closing stock price on November 5th. The bid started on November 6th and will end on December 26th. A Vertex spokesman said that Motorola will eventually aim to boost its stake to 80%. Very interesting......
