This will be our last opportunity
for us to remind EMS and Fire Department readers
that the application period for the 2015 Assistance
to Firefighters Grant application period closes at
5:00 PM EST this coming Friday, December 5th.
For those who have not yet completed their
application, we encourage you to add a

projects and improved communications is always a top
priority. For a copy of our P25 radio Quick Pricing
Guide, click here!
We will be
sharing several articles this month on the subject
of radios approved for AFG funding. We hope
all of our public safety readers, including law
enforcement agencies, will find this information to
be of interest. And, as usual, we will have
something for our commercial and institutional
readers as well. At the close of this
eNewsletter, we will have something to say to
EVERYONE!
We
welcome our new readers, and thank our older
readers for their loyalty. If you are receiving our
eNewsletter for the first time, we want you to know
that this is a courtesy copy to those who have
expressed an interest and/or purchased from us in
the last month. If you don't wish to receive future

Are
you ready for a visit from "The Man"?
A
very special message to public safety agencies who
have or expect to receive federal funding for
communications!
Washington
DC has a problem. They have wasted too much
money on projects that haven't met expectations.
Interoperable communications is one of them!
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that
the Department of Justice (DOJ) would be going after
people who had received or planned to receive
federal grant funding through the Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) with a particular interest
in FEMA fire grants for communications.
We received a call from a fire chief wanting
budgetary pricing for radios to be used on a closed
network system. Technically, he is restricted
to a single manufacturer and a single source of
service. A grant award to this applicant could
potentially put the Chief in harms way. If you
are facing a similar situation or have been told
that you can purchase a "better" system
than P25 for less money, you will likely get
a visit from the man if you proceed. BTW, we
are talking about a felony, not some little civil
slap on the wrist. Click here

Which
Wireless Headset System Is Best For YOU?
If
you need hands free wireless Person-To-Person
communications, we've got your solution!
Wireless
headsets are increasing in popularity by a variety
of users. Traditionally, fire departments have been
the major users of protective headsets, but needs
are changing. Many need the ability to connect to
2-way radios. Other simply want intercom capability
and still others require hands free communications
capability. After all the smoke (pun intended) has
cleared, it appears that the two major contenders
for providing wireless hands free headsets are
FireCom (Sonetics) and Multi-Voice Radio (MVR).Want

Good
news for perplexed school principals.......
If
you've been wondering why you have to go to the
office to talk on the radio to buses, wonder no
more!
Sometimes,
things just don't work as they should! A good case
in point is communicating with school bus drivers
from the school office. Many school systems have
2-way radios installed in their buses as well as
radios in the schools. That's good! What's not so
good is that the only radio in the school that can
talk to buses on the road is the office radio. The
portables generally won't talk out from inside the
building! Want to know a good solution? Click

Digital
Response Paging qualifies for AFG funding!!
If
you're looking for the ultimate in dispatch systeme,
here it is!
In a
recent blog posting, we commented on a proposal to
use private digital paging as an alternative to the
use of analog pagers such as Minitor VI. Many public
safety dispatch systems suffered from degraded
coverage as a result of narrow banding. The are
three possible solutions: Cellular phones using text
messaging (which doesn't meet NFPA 1221
requirements), one-way private paging and the newest
technology, known as Response Paging.Click here
