The
BIG News this month!
Disaster
Mitigation Grant Money
Could
be Available VERY Soon!
We are
NEVER totally prepared for disasters whether it is
weather related (hurricanes, tornados, etc),
catastrophic (earthquakes, floods, forest fires, mud
slides), industrial accidents, chemical spills or
even accidents on our airports, highways, and
railroads.
That is not to say that we can't be BETTER prepared
by updating existing Disaster Mitigation plans.
It is our understanding that funds may soon be
available to those counties, municipalities,
hospitals, and possibly units of the national guard
and Red Cross chapters to acquire funding for
systems and equipment to better notify the public
(mass notification), and to coordinate response and
command after an event has occurred.
We have developed three different systems that could
be eligible for up to 75% federal funding (we have
some ideas on where to find the additional 25%).

The catch is that we understand that county
EMA Directors should have received requests for
UPDATES to existing Disaster Migration plans no
later than THIS WEEK! We understand that
applications approved may be funded as early as
November of this year! We can assist those

Special Message to FEMA Communications Grant
Recipients!
Managing
an Assistance to Firefighters grant can be a quite a
task.
There is a
lot of work to be done in areas of regulatory
compliance, FCC licensing issues, bid specification
development, review and awarding. Then the REAL fun
starts with management, oversight, and reporting
through the various levels of progress. Project
management is a skill within itself, a skill that
very few fire chiefs are trained to perform. So the
question is, if FEMA will pay for the cost of grant
administration, then why would you not consider the
services of an individual or organization capable of
