Introduction
| The OuterCom
system is specifically designed for the needs of those involved in the
mini-warehouse, apartment, and loading docks, other services involving a
single manager responsible for meeting the public and managing property
who desire to provide immediate interaction with visitors even when they
are outside the office.
The key to the system is known as a CallBox. In non-technical terms, a CallBox is a self contained battery powered wireless intercom using selected operating frequencies in the VHF or UHF commercial communications bands as authorized by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Sometimes referred to as an Outpost communicator, the function of the CallBox is to provide a visitor with a simple and effective means of communicating with you when you are out of the office but on the premises. The CallBox can operate for up to one year on self contained, replaceable "D" cell alkaline batteries. When it is time to change batteries, the CallBox automatically sends a voice message to an associate personal 2-way communicator to the owner know that it is time to change batteries. Installation is simple and inexpensive. If you have a mounting post or bracket, simply attach the CallBox using readily available plastic tie wraps. If you prefer, the CallBox can be wall mounted using Velcro or semi-permanently mounted using a mounting plate. There are two models of Callboxes, the 1 watt standard or Basic model and the more powerful 2 watt XT. Additional differences are described in the product description below. Several different models of personal 2-way communicators are available for use by the property manager. The less expensive TC-1600 model is for use only with UHF Callboxes. The SLX is available in either VHF or UHF. The SLX100 VHF models has a built in weather radio for enhanced user safety when operating in outside areas. The OuterCom CallBox system provides two-way communications between the visitor and the property manager. A less expensive system known as the OuterCom Notifier is a one-way call notification device that allows a visitor to alert a manager with a voice message at the push of a button. The Notifier is less expensive but does not provide the two-way messaging capability of the CallBox system. Now, lets take a look at the OuterCom system! |

The Basic CallBox shown on
the far left measures just 10 x 5.5 x 3" including internal batteries
and antenna. The Basic model is completely waterproof and is
supplied with plastic tie wraps for pipe or bracket mounting as well as a
mounting plate for mounting on a flat surface. No electrical
connections are required.
The 11.5 x 9.7 x 4.3 XT CallBox to the right of the basic model features an internal antenna and an extra durable housing for harsh environments. The XT model is supplied with mounting ears and a bracket for wall surface mounting. We offer two personal 2-way communicators for use with OuterCom CallBoxes. The TC-1600 shown at the far left can be used with either the Basic or XT models for UHF operation (UHF is preferred for use in urban areas whereas VHF is best for suburban and rural use). The SLX is available in both UHF and VHF and provides higher operating power (the TC-1600 is rated at 1 watt and is the normal companion unit for the Basic CallBox. The SLX is rated for either 2 to 5 watts and is normally used with the XT CallBox). The VHF model of the SLX also includes a built in weather alert receiver. We offer the Notifier for indoor use for those who do not need to communicate with visitors. If instant voice notification at the push of a button will meet your requirements, the Notifier is right for you! When the Call Assistance button is pushed by a visitor, a voice message is immediately transmitted to an associated OuterCom personal 2-way communicator as shown above. The message can be recorded to your personal requirements such as Visitor is waiting in office or other message as desired. There is yet another application for an OuterCom. We call it Loudmouth! If you have people working outside or in a production area and you want to get a message to them quickly and inexpensively, you can do it with Loudmouth, a self contained wireless PA system that works with either of our personal communicators listed above.
