Grandpa, do all pagers come
from west of California?
As much as we hate to admit it, the US has given away the manufacturing of
pagers primarily to the Chinese (Yes, Taiwan is Chinese too!). To our
knowledge, there is a single hold out in Japan and maybe one still left in
Australia, Korea, and Singapore; but MOST pagers, including Motorola, come from
China/Taiwan. These pagers are primarily designed to serve a consumer
market (which no longer exists). In simple terms, the quality originally
found in products like the original Motorola Advisor, Bravo, and Minitor II just isn't
there anymore (at least in our opinion).
There are some exceptions. There are some first class manufacturers in Europe where quality and technical standards still remain high. Regrettably, prices are also high as a result of numerous contributing factors - notably lower dollar value against the Euro and the fact that the Europeans pay fair wages so their citizens can pay higher taxes. Some of these European manufacturers, such as Multitone, have been doing business in the US for a number of years primarily focusing on serving the needs of hospitals in the northeastern US and more recently, VA hospitals nationwide. There is some risk in dealing with a niche market provider since local representation and/or local repair capability is often missing. Clearly, there had to be a better alternative. There is - it's called Swissphone!
Swissphone did it right, starting with manufacturing their own products in Switzerland (you know, where those good expensive watches are made). After becoming a major supplier in the European market, they decided to come to North America. The plan was based on providing quality products, innovation, fair pricing, and good service through a network of three distribution points in the US and one in Canada. Falcon Direct is one of those three US suppliers who sell, support, and service Swissphone products.
So - to answer the original question, all pagers do NOT come from the Asian Pacific rim. The BEST ones come from Switzerland via Falcon Direct. Aren't you glad we shared this with you? Now, let's take a look at the products available from Swissphone! We currently offer three basic types. The DE900 is capable of functioning either as a numeric or alphanumeric text display pager. The DE900 is a crystal type receiver that is great for fixed frequency applications and is available in either the VHF or UHF frequency bands. More importantly, the DE900 can operate at either 25 kHz or 12.5 kHz. Click here for a special report on why this is extremely important to you as a user.

The DV900 is the alternative for any numeric or alphanumeric display pager. As a numeric pager, the price is considerably higher than any of the consumer type pagers offered by suppliers or market applications with a requirement for an economy pager. For example, church nursery paging systems are typically very cost conscious. This condition has evolved as a result of competitors who view the marked only as an opportunity to sell pagers at the lowest possible price. Falcon Direct has long been a leader in providing wireless church nursery paging systems. Our most popular church pager sells for just $79. Still, we think there is a need for a high quality pager such as the DV900.
There are other users who can actually SAVE money by switching from conventional analog pagers to new generation digital pagers. As a case in point, volunteer fire department have long used analog voice pagers for alerting first responders. There is a problem with analog technology in that analog pagers are only produced in relatively low quantities which tends to drive prices up. Additionally, coverage is often inadequate for covering large geographic areas. Repeater stations can be very expensive, and often difficult to license. Digital systems are less expensive and can easily and inexpensively be expanded to meet growing requirements.
The problem with digital pagers is that they don't talk. There is an advantage in voice communications. You don't have to read messages while driving and you have no difficulty in getting your message in poor lighting conditions. So, the folks at Swissphone came up with a hybrid technology that provides the combined benefits of both digital and voice communications. The call it the DV500. This amazing receiver takes digital text messages and converts them to VOICE!
The benefits of a digital sending system are numerous. Networked PC's can allow multiple work stations to send a text page. Low cost sending terminals can be connected to a telephone line. New computer aided dispatch systems can take direct Caller ID information and the typed call report and send the message automatically to a digital text pager. Best of all, if the user has the DV500, they can receive the message in VOICE! We thought you you might interested in seeing the prices on the DV500 - Here they are!

Other message display pagers
Our most affordable text display pager is the Apollo Gold LCD display model. Priced at just $99, this pager is simple, affordable, and reliable. This pager can respond to as many as four individual POCSAG alert codes. This is very useful for those who wish to individually alert a specific pager as well as a group or simultaneous all call. Multiple address codes are available as a no charge option on all of our receivers. A low battery alert (also standard on all our pagers) is provided as well as an out of range indicator (applicable only on full text display pagers). Received messages scroll across the large display of the Apollo Gold with date and time the messages were received also displayed. Up to sixteen messages are held in memory for later recall as desired.
Our best known text display pager is the Motorola Advisor II. Similar in appearance and features to the Apollo Gold, the Advisor II is noted for the renowned Motorola performance and reliability. Both the Gold and the Advisor II are capable of operating as an alert only pager (similar to the EPager and LS355) as well as displaying either numeric or text messages. Our Notifier series terminals can be used with either of these pagers for reception of simple alert or numeric messages. Sending of a text message requires additional software or a terminal with full keyboard capability. The price of the Motorola Advisor II is only $129.

All Falcon Direct personal
message receivers are covered by a one year warranty. A comment may be
appropriate concerning warranties. A warranty is the manufacturers
certification that the product is free from defects and a promise to correct
defects should they occur. It is NOT a service policy. Under the
terms of a normal warranty, it is your responsibility to provide proof of
purchase, call for a return material authorization, and pay for shipping of the
defective product back to the manufacturer. If the malfunction is
determined to be caused by abuse (i.e. dropping, water damage, etc.) the
warranty does NOT cover the cost of the repair. Also, there is no promise
as to how long it will take for the product to be repaired and returned.
At best, it may be a week, depending on the distance and the shipper selected.
In some cases, it may be several weeks or even several months if a special part
has to be ordered. This is not peculiar to Falcon Wireless - it is
generally applicable to any warranty unless other terms are specifically defined
in writing. If pagers are critical to your operations, we suggest
that you purchase a spare or two. You'll be glad you did.
Lastly, there is one other issue requiring clarification. To operate an
on-site paging system requires an FCC license. The process for applying
for a license involves both time and money. There are those who are
unaware of this requirement (or choose to ignore it). We do not subject
you to additional cost, delays, or potential FCC rule violations. We
provide a temporary on-site license at no cost while your license application
(if required) is being processed. That's just one of the things that make
us a little different from all the rest!
